NBC Orders Pilot For ‘Cruel Intentions’ TV Series

f2e5049d

Wow so it looks like NBC is very serious about actually getting it television adaptation of Cruel Intentions off the ground. The network has ordered a pilot for the show. A few months back the suits over at NBC ordered a pilot script for the series based 1999’s Cruel Intentions starring Ryan Phillippe and Reese Witherspoon. The cult classic (and I feel like I should use that term loosely) is based on the actual 1988 classic Dangerous Liaisons starring Glenn Close, John Malkovich, Michelle Pfeiffer, and a young Keanu Reeves and Uma Thurman. If it sounds like I’m trying to sell you on that film thats because I totally am, it’s a great movie, fairly better than “Cruel Intentions” which I admit I found entertaining on a few levels. As I asked when I originally brought you guys this story, why the hell is this on NBC when The CW is made for shit like this. It is nothing in the plot description that tells me this needs to be a show on a network that adults watch. MTV, The CW, Freeform (formally ABC Family), these are networks that deserve a show like the one this adaption is described to be. Here’s a some details on the series plot from Deadline:

The series would reportedly be set in San Francisco, where Bash Casey — the son of Sebastian Valmont (Phillippe) and Annette Hargrove (Witherspoon) — moves from Kansas to claim his previously unknown legacy after discovering Sebastian’s journals.

Again I hate to repeat myself but if you’ve ever seen the film you know something happens at the end that makes this whole thing is kind of a stretch and I say that when I really mean it’s just plain stupid. Like I said before this is simply ‘Gossip Girl’ with a dude, but hey, what does it matter I’m not watching this shit.
