ABC Family Gives Nicki Minaj Her Own Show?

Apparently this new “Golden Age” in television doesn’t always shine…Or maybe it does…but probably not. ABC Family, the network that brought you such classics as ‘Baby Daddy’ and ‘Pretty Little Liars’ is now presents it’s newest masterpiece, a show about Minaj and family moving from Trinidad to the United States, specifically Queens, New York. The show is said to take place in the 1990s, of course, so I have a feeling it’s gonna have a ‘Everybody Hates Chris’ vibe. So if you were worried you’d have to endure Minaj’s horrible acting (refer to the film ‘The Other Woman’). It looks as if she’s only going to serve as the shows executive producer as well as the inspiration for the story. Kate Angelo writer of such shows as ‘The Bernie Mac Show’, ‘Will and Grace’ and the 2014 comedy ‘Sex Tape’, will serve as writer on the pilot episode and will join Minaj in executive producing duties. ‘Life in Pieces’ and ‘Divorce’ producer Aaron Kaplan , as well as ‘Boss’ producers Stella Bulochnikov and Brian Sher and Gee Roberson will also be given executive producer credits. The EVP of programming and development at ABC Family, Karey Burke, is clearly a huge fan of Minaj’s at least it seems that way from her statement,“Nicki Minaj is a force to be reckoned with at everything she touches…We’re beyond thrilled to bring her one-of-a-kind story to our channel. Nicki is an international superstar, yet not everyone knows how inspiring and hilarious her true story is, and we can’t wait to share it with the world.”

Minaj also shared her enthusiasm for the show, “This is one of the more unique adventures I’ve ever embarked on,” said Minaj. “I couldn’t be more proud and excited to team up with an amazing group of people to give the world something really special.”

This seems to be something special for Minaj and company so I’ll try to reserve judgement. ABC Family is putting the rush on this one, filming is suppose to start this winter.
