Charlize Theron And David Fincher Want To Bring ‘Mindhunters’ To Netflix

David-Fincher-il-prepare-une-serie-tele-avec-Charlize-Theron_portrait_w532

It looks like David Fincher and Charlize Theron are teaming up to bring us ‘Mindhunters’, no not that really shitty sci-fi action flick from 2004 starring Val Kilmer and LL Cool J. No, this isn’t that. Netflix, whom Fincher already has a relationship with thanks to the critically acclaimed ‘House Of Cards’ is said to be the landing spot for the crime drama. Theron and Fincher’s ‘Mindhunters’ would be based on the 1996 non-fiction book by world renowned FBI profiler and author John Douglas and Mark Olshanker titled Mind Hunter: Inside the FBI’s Elite Serial Crime Unit. Here’s the books official synopsis:

During his twenty-five year career with the Investigative Support Unit, Special Agent John Douglas became a legendary figure in law enforcement, pursuing some of the most notorious and sadistic serial killers of our time: the man who hunted prostitutes for sport in the woods of Alaska, the Atlanta child murderer, and Seattle’s Green River killer, the case that nearly cost Douglas his life. As the model for Jack Crawford in The Silence of the Lambs, Douglas has confronted, interviewed, and studied scores of serial killers and assassins, including Charles Manson, Ted Bundy, and Ed Gein, who dressed himself in his victims’ peeled skin. Using his uncanny ability to become both predator and prey, Douglas examines each crime scene, reliving both the killer’s and the victim’s actions in his mind, creating their profiles, describing their habits, and predicting their next moves. Now, in chilling detail, the legendary Mindhunter takes us behind the scenes of some of his most gruesome, fascinating, and challenging cases — and into the darkest recesses of our worst nightmares.

Douglas who spent time as an FBI profiler was the inspiration for some of TV and films most iconic characters such as; Will Graham from Hannibal and Red Dragon, Jack Crawford from The Silence Of The Lambs, and for fans of CBS procedurals, Jason Gideon from Criminal Minds. Needless to say the dude is something of a badass. So I say fuck it, let Fincher have a stab at doing a dark, cerebral, FBI profiler crime drama. I have a feeling it’s right up his alley. Also seeing how this project was intended for HBO you know it’s going to violent, bloody, and no-holds-barred. As far as Theron’s involvement she’s set to star in the series.

No word yet when Netflix will give official word.
