And the trailer parade continues, but this time around we don’t have a big budget, CG filled, Hollywood blockbuster to preview. This time around we have something smaller and from the look of the trailer a lot sweeter than the other trailers we’ve over these past few weeks. ‘Eddie The Eagle’ starring Hugh Jackman and ‘Kingman’ actor Taron Egerton is the true story of Britain’s Eddie “The Eagle” Edwards, who enlists an American ski-jumping expert (Hugh Jackman) to train him for the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary, Alberta. Looking at the trailer the first thing that came to mind was a little Disney movie that I’m sure every millennial will remember and that movie is…you guessed it 1993’s ‘Cool Runnings’. Also fun fact about ‘Cool Runnings’, is that film also takes place at the 1988 Winter Olympics, which is making me think that event was a fucking circus. ‘Cool Runnings’ had a lot of heart and it showed even it the trailer. I got the same thing from this trailer which basically shows you the entire fucking film. Eddie seems like the type of underdog that you can’t help but root for. Egerton looks unrecognizable in the role, which gives me a lot of faith in that actor.  Jackman on the other hand seems to be doing a workman’s job, he seems to be doing the same thing he did in ‘Real Steel’.

If you’re unfamiliar with Eddie “The Eagle” Edwards heres a quick bio on him, the guy is definitely inspirational:

Edwards was born in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire. A good downhill skier, he narrowly missed out on the GB team for that event for the 1984 Games. To improve his chances to qualify for Calgary in 1988, he moved to Lake Placid in the US to train and enter races of a higher standard, but he quickly found himself short on funds. To realise his Olympic dream, he decided to switch to ski jumping for reasons of cost and easier qualification as there were no other British ski jumpers with whom to compete for a place.
