‘Game of Thrones’ Ending After Season 8? – The Daily Double Talk
OH DEAR GOD NO! NO! NO! NO! Game of Thrones is ending! I prayed to the lord of light this day would never come, but he’s failed me! My favorite show currently on television is coming to an end…in about three years. It was announced today at the Television Critics Association summer press tour by HBO president Michael Lombardo and producers David Benioff and Daniel Weiss that the show would likely be ending after season eight. Although HBO had high hopes the show would run at least a full decade before they pulled the plug, it was decided that “Game of Thrones shouldn’t proceed past it’s eighth season.
With author George R.R. Martin taking his sweet and precious time on the final books in his “Song of Ice and Fire” series, it seems the showrunners will have to do a Cliff-notes version of the those books with this, it’s last three seasons. Let’s just hope that since the show is approaching it’s last few years that we have seen the last of those dreaded “boring first few episodes”. Hopefully the show can start to hit the ground running and maintain a taunt, intense pace in it’s final three seasons. From the season premiere to season finale I expect nothing less than balls-to-the-wall action, betrayal and dragons till this fucking show ends. I might be getting my hopes up to high on that last part but I for one can’t see how this amazing series ends. We can now see the light at the end of the tunnel that is “G.O.T.” whats on the other end, who the fuck knows. If at the end of that tunnel I find someone being beheaded, stabbed repeatedly, having their head crushed or all of the above I won’t be surprised but I will smile, because that’s my “Game of Thrones” and it will be missed when it’s gone. The premiere date of season 6 has yet to be announced.
