‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Play’ Casting Causes A Stir

Harry-Potter-Cursed-Child

Just when you thought ‘Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them’ was the closet thing you were going to get to the ‘Harry Potter’ series, J.K. Rowling herself comes out and surprises us yet again. It turned out all those rumors about Miss Rowling writing a sequel for Harry Potter meant for the stage were absolutely true as we found out this fall. News broke that Rowling’s stage play sequel ‘Harry Potter And The Cursed Child Part 1 & 2’ will open in West End, London, next June. Although the play sold 175,000 tickets in just 24 hours the film has been marred by slight controversy because play is black. J.K. Rowling quickly took to Twitter to basically tell all the racist assholes to shut the fuck up, Hermione is whatever she says she is. If you’re wondering what this play is about don’t fret, the good folks over at ScreenRant have a synopsis:

“It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn’t much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband and father of three school-age children. While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places.”

Apparently, the stage show will be presented in two separate parts. The audiences can either attend a matinee and evening performance on the same day or they can attend two consecutive evening performances. No doubt there will be a lot of money made from this. It seems every media the Harry Potter franchise touches results in nothing but dollar signs.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child begins previews at The Palace Theatre, London on June 7th, 2016.
