Live-Action ‘Little Mermaid’ Remake Finds It’s Ariel

mermaid

First off let me start by telling you the most shocking detail of this story and that is, this new live-action remake of Hans Christian Andersen 1837 story’Little Mermaid’ has absolutely nothing to do with that fucking mouse. That’s right, Disney got beat to the punch on this one, as Working Title and Universal are team up to bring you their version of the classic tale. This isn’t the first time Universal Pictures has tried to steal a bit of Disney’s thunder, if you recall back in 2012 they decided to make a ‘darker’, ‘grittier’ version of the fairy tale. That film was a moderate success financially as well as with audiences and critics. Not sure if they plan on going that dark this time around but they do plan on having a hot young lead same as they did for ‘Snow White And The Huntsman’. The studio has cast Chloe Grace Moretz in the lead role, you probably know her best as Hit Girl from the ‘Kick-Ass’ films. She’s also started in a ‘Carrie’ remake, played a ghost in ‘If I Stay’ and got her Jodie Foster on as a teenage prostitute in ‘The Equalizer’. It’s been a pretty good couple years for Ms. Moretz and this is definitely a cherry on top, she’s going to star in ‘The 5th Wave’ a film based on the popular series of YA novels. If you’re unfamiliar with ‘The Little Mermaid’ than you’re probably an alien from another fucking planet but if that is the case heres a plot summary:

A mermaid wishes to become human after falling in love with a man she saves from drowning.

Yep, that’s pretty much it, I don’t think stories get as simply as ‘The Little Mermaid’ but hey I’m bias I grew up with that movie and loved it as a child. But it’s funny, the fact Disney has nothing to do with this only makes me wanna see it more.
