Quentin Tarantino Has An Idea For ‘Inglorious Basterds’ Spin-Off

I’ve noticed that Quentin Tarantino usually comes up with several ideas when he’s just trying to come up with one. That happens to a lot of writers, they brainstorm so hard that they end up getting two or three stories when they simply wanted to figure out one. Apparently this has happened to QT because he recently sat down with IndieWire and divulged a pretty interesting idea for a spinoff/sequel, that I have a few things to say about, heres what he said:

The huge stuff that I took out could make its own movie, and it followed a platoon of black troops that were court-martialed and they escape. They were in France; they were going to be hung and in London and their whole thing was to get to Switzerland. And they ended up getting into an adventure and they meet the Basterds, so I ended up taking all that out.

Now let me start off by saying that sounds fucking amazing. On the other hand though, I don’t know if I trust Tarantino with an majority black cast, seeing how it didn’t work all that well with ‘Django’ contrary to what some may say. Django was entertaining in some parts but overall not only was the tone all over the place but the fact Tarantino stop himself from writing the word “nigger” every other word. That is my fear with his ‘Basterds’ spin-off, I don’t need to hear that word 175 times with a French accent. Lets be honest here, you know that would more than likely happen. On the other hand, no one has made a bad ass all black regime war movie, EVER. Spike Lee attempted it with ‘Miracle at St. Anna’ which was way too Spike Lee to be entertaining and then there was George Lucas ‘Red Tails’ which was a cheesy, glossy mess. So if we gave those two a shot at it, technically we would have to give Quentin Tarantino that same chance.
