Richard Linklater Drops Trailer For ‘Everybody Wants Some’

Everybody

Have any of you ever wanted to see a sequel to 1993’s cult classic ‘Dazed and Confused’? Well, so have I. Especially seeing how I was born and raised in Texas, the movie speaks to you on a whole other level when that’s the case. Anyway, it looks like we won’t be getting any official sequels to explore the further misadventures of Matthew McConaughey’s iconic character Wooderson. Instead we have what director Richard Linklater called a spiritual sequel to Dazed and Confused called Everybody Wants Some. Ahhhh, I see what he did there, Dazed and Confused popular Led Zeppelin Song, Everybody Wants Some popular Van Halen song. One band was huge in the 70’s the other huge in the 80’s, already I see the similarities and after watching the trailer I saw WAY more similarities…like too many. From the look of this thing Linklater took all the characters from D and C, changed their names and maybe their hair colors and threw them in a Texas college rather than a Texas high school. Even baseball plays an important role in the film, just as it did in ‘Dazed’. For fuck sake, the era doesn’t even look or feel like the 80’s. I assume the film takes place in the early 80’s when 70’s fashion and style were still very much there. Bottomline the film looks like a straight to Redbox remake of McConaughey’s breakout film, but hey that’s just my opinion, check it out for yourself.

Plus, here’s the synopsis of ‘Everybody Wants Some’:

Set in the world of 1980s college life, Everybody Wants Some is a comedy, directed and written by Richard Linklater, that follows a group of college baseball players as they navigate their way through the freedoms and responsibilities of unsupervised adulthood. Get ready for the best weekend ever.
