That doll might finally get off her wooden ass and do something in ‘Annabelle: Creation’. The investigation of a brutal murder on an Indian reservation takes us to ‘Wind River’, a children’s show for an audience of one ends in ‘Brigsby Bear’, and our intern Julianna helps us review the documentary ‘Step’.
I found ‘Hell or High Water’ completely underwhelming, but I loved ‘Sicario’ so I really don’t know how ‘Wind River’ will sit for me. I’ll see it eventually but so far Taylor Sheridan is 1-1 for me, it’s probably due to the differences in direction from each of his films.
In regards to ‘Brigsby Bear,’ I think I sort of hate Kyle Mooney. On ‘Saturday Night Live,’ he can’t do impressions, his attempts at making spiritual successors to digital shorts are nothing more than awkward, he barely has any recurring characters or sketches. He is overall pretty useless on the show and only seems to be on it since he’s Beck Bennett’s comedy partner, and Bennett has carved out a pretty good niche in the show unlike Mooney. That said, maybe I’m just being unfair to the guy, if ‘Brigsby Bear’ is as good as all the reviews seem to be, maybe he is just straight-up underutilized on the show. I’ll definitely check it out and I hope he can wind me over.
