Scooby Doobie Doo where are you?! A matter fact what have you been we’ve missed you. It seems like forever since we’ve seen Scooby-Doo on the big screen. Last time we saw him it was 2004 and he was in a not-so-good live-action movie with Buffy the vampire slayer and fucking Freddie Prinze Jr. Even though that movie was written by James Gunn (guardians of the galaxy) it was basically just a live action cartoon without the level of fun you would have gotten from a cartoon. That’s why Warner Bros. has decided to rejuvenate the Scooby Doo franchise and reboot it as an animated feature film. Warner bros. animation, that’s right, it still exist, the animation company that brought you such classics as space jam and the iron giant will be responsible for the new Scooby Doo movie. One reason Warner Bros. has decided to go the animated route is because the live-action films cost the studio more money than they had initially thought to make and neither film brought in the huge haul at the studio truly hoping for. With Scooby do well on its way to theaters, it got some studio executives thinking one to break out the entire Hanna-Barbera catalog. Studio was thinking about just giving us an entirely new Hanna-Barbera universe on the big screen. They are considering the Jetsons and the Flintstones also for their next projects, granted Scooby Doo is a success. I am actually really really excited about this news. I, like every other person in America from ages 26 to 60 watched and fucking LOVED Hanna-Barbera cartoons growing up. I don’t think there has ever been a group of animated shows that have held up the way those cartoons have. Decade after decade, generation after generation those cartoons continue to entertain kids if all ages, hell I still love watching Scooby Doo meets the Harlem Globetrotters that shit is a classic. Not to mention the Jetsons and the Flintstones I can go on and on about those shows too. Bottom line I think that Warner Bros. is on to something great here and I am especially confident seeing that they have Allison Abbate who produced the aforementioned The Iron Giant and The Fantastic Mr. Fox, two of, if not my favorite animated movies. So with her on board it looks like sky’s the limit.
