Zach Galifianakis Will Be ‘Lego Movies’ Joker – The Daily Double Talk
By Tommy McGrew
The Joker club just got a little bit bigger. move out the way Jack Nicholson and Heath Ledger. Get ready to share that “new Joker” spotlight, Jared Leto. Hell, if the original Joker, Cesar Romero, wasn’t dead he’d be nervous too because the next actor to take on the role as the clown prince of crime will go down in history as one of the greatest joke us to ever grace our–shit I can’t keep this up. Zach Galifanakis will voice the Joker in the Lego Batman Movie. He will join Will Arnett as Batman and Michael Cera as Robin, with casting like that Galifianakis fits right in.
After seeing The Lego Movie, which I loved, I really can’t wait to see the upcoming Batman Lego Movie. This whole project seems a little odd and bizarre but in the best way possible. I mean we have Ben Affleck, who we have yet to see as Batman, rebooting the huge superhero franchise. And apparently he’s doing such a good job that Warner Bros. decided to give him a three picture deal to make his own standalone Batman films. There’s no doubt that the Batman property is Warner Bros’ most valuable. So the fact that they’re lending their most important characters to a Lego movie says a lot about how much they believe in the new Lego movie franchise. Like in the original Lego Movie we will see a different side of the cape crusader, a more…dickish side so to speak and that is kind of the hook. It’s refreshing to see a character that we all know as a brooding badass be goofy and funny. Zach Galifianakis can be very funny (sometimes) and Will Arnett was hilarious as Batman in the original film, so I think those two will play off of each other quite well.
