Sigourney Weaver Joins ‘Ghostbusters’ Reboot

GB1film2013chapter19sc012

I knew it was only a matter of time before it dawned on new Ghostbusters director Paul Feig that there was one character from the original Ghostbusters that deserved a cameo. What character is that you’re asking? Well none other than Dana Barrett played by Sigourney Weaver. I remember when the news dropped that it’d be an all female cast, I thought to myself the one character I thought would work if it was a tie in to the original G-busters was Dana Barrett. She and Annie Potts who played Janine Melnitz where the only two women in a cast of men. Whereas Potts’ character was full on comic relief, Weaver’s was the more grounded, straight woman. Weavers will be with old company. Both Dan Aykroyd and Bill “muthafuckin” Murray have signed on to the project, but their roles are still something if a mystery. Although I’m still not sure if this reboot will acknowledge the 1985 cast member as their original characters I would like to see the old school cast interact with the newbies. Seeing how Weavers on board now along with Murray and Aykroyd, one would think Ernie Hudson might get a call or even the aforementioned Annie Potts, fuck it, bribe Rick Moranis, convince him to come out from under that rock he retired to years ago. With three original cast members signed on, you might as well make another actual Ghostbusters movie, Potts and Hudson won’t be hard to get, that Moranis thing was a joke that dude does NOT want anything to do with Hollywood ever again. But to me it seemed the reason they could never get a GB3 off the ground was because Murray didn’t wanna do it, now that he’s in, it kind of pisses me off a bit. I know that’s selfish, the man’s only in it for a cameo, but still it’s the principle Bill Murray!…oh I can’t stay mad at you Bill, I love you too damn much and I’ll be looking forward to the new Ghostbusters reboot set to be released July 15, 2016.
