SyFy’s ‘Krypton’ May Play Like A ‘Man of Steel’ Prequel

krypton_art

So apparently that ‘Krypton’ show that SyFy and notable writer/producer David Goyer have been trying to cram down our throats, will actually be a prequel to 2013’s ‘Man of Steel’ and will take place about 200 years prior to the events in ‘Man of Steel’. So if you’re hoping to catch a glimpse of baby Kal-El or hell for that matter baby Jor-El, then you’re shit out of luck. The show sounds like it may mainly focus on the exploits of Superman’s grandaddy. But the show will indeed cover all the drama and action of the House of El, which also would have made for a better title, I think. Goyer, who will be executive producer on the project sat down with the guys at ComicBook.com during a press junket for ‘Da Vinci’s Demons’ and gave us all some interesting tidbits on the upcoming show:

“Krypton” will takes place 200 years before “Man of Steel, we’re treating ‘Krypton’ like it’s a historical piece, we look to previous cultures on Earth to model what that would be like. We scratched the surface in the film and, for me, that was the allure. I was always fascinated, as a kid, with the books about Krypton and they’ve only shaded in a tiny bit, so we’ll learn about the politics of the world. We’ll learn about the culture, the art, all the different guilds.”

If I didn’t know any better I’d say Goyer and SyFy were trying to make something like ‘Game of Thrones’ in space which sounds fucking amazing, but I don’t think this can live up to that. I’m sure the politics of the world will resemble something closer to the politics in the ‘Star Wars’ prequel and a hint of the shady backhanded politics of ‘Game of Thrones’. Either or I think I’m gonna check this one out.
