ABC Wants Chris Rock To Host The Oscars Again…Seriously

So clearly the producers of the Academy Awards recently hit their heads in a freak accident and suffered a case of selective amnesia. I say this because their selection of Chris Rock to host the 88th annual Oscars kind of…well baffled me. As you may remember this isn’t the first time Rock has hosted the big show. Back in 2005 at the 77th annual Academy Awards Rock hosted one of the most awkward award shows I had seen in a while. It wasn’t Rock’s talent that made things, at times, hard to watch is was simply that his brash, in your face style of comedy didn’t mesh very well with the uppity, straight-laced, PC audience. The Oscars is and has always been a night where Hollywood not only congratulates itself but kisses it’s own ass…That’s not at all what Chris Rock does. After that show people quickly added Rock to the list of worst Oscar hosts ever. People even lump him in with James Franco and Anne Hathaway which isn’t really fair because that debacle was fucking next level. I always tried to keep the fact that the gig just wan’t right not for Rock in mind and figured the producers of the Oscars did too, but I was wrong. They’ve decided to give Rock a second chance. My only questions is. why? I’d understand them giving Hathaway and Franco a second chance, this time minus the weed. That one seems like a much easier fix, than having Rock trying to tone down his humor. On the other hand though, maybe ABC said fuck it, can’t beat ’em, join ’em. Maybe they want to spice things up the way Gervais did for the Golden Globes, god knows they need to do something with that snore fest. Only thing blander than the Oscars is an hour block of C-SPAN…on second thought C-Span is more entertaining. So I take back everything #BRINGROCKBACK.
