Netflix’s and Marvel’s ‘Iron Fist’ Gets Showrunner and Synopsis

Apparently, when Marvel said they were really going through with the Netflix ‘Iron Fist’ TV series, they actually meant it. Only about week after Marvel and Netflix denounced rumors that the fourth and final hero in Marvel’s ‘Defenders’ would indeed not be getting his own Netflix series. It was clear though, after the success of ‘Jessica Jones’ and the heightened anticipation for ‘Luke Cage’, that Netflix had no choice but to go through with the series. Which, in my opinion, is a good thing, Iron Fist is a fun character whom they can do a lot with, as far as action goes. Even though they still haven’t cast an actor to play the title character they have made major leaps forward. It was announced that Scott Buck would serve as the shows showrunner. Buck has worked on ‘Nikki’, ‘Six Feet Under’, ‘Rome’ and ‘Dexter’, so he is more than qualified. Marvel TV head Jeph Loeb was clearly impressed by Buck, he said:

“Scott came in with a take on Iron Fist that quite simply knocked us off our feet. We always look for the most creative minds in the field to help us bring our heroes to life, and with Scott we’ve found someone that can deliver yet another great series in the ongoing story of The Defenders.”

Not only does this show now have it’s showrunner, but it also now has a official synopsis:

Returning to New York City after being missing for years, Daniel Rand fights against the criminal element corrupting New York City with his incredible kung-fu mastery and ability to summon the awesome power of the fiery Iron Fist.

I am getting more and more excited about this ‘Defenders’ mini-series and the addition of Iron Fist. Also, full disclosure, I have a special place for Iron Fist in my heart simply because he is a part of one of my favorite Daredevil stories which I hope to see in an upcoming season.

No word yet when Iron Fist will premiere.
