Sam Smith To Sing ‘Spectre’ Theme Song

It’s OK it’s all right all you 007 fans out there, just calm down the wait is over. The question that’s been burning in your mind ever since you saw the first trailer for Spectre has been answered. What question you ask? Well, the question of who the fuck is going to sing the theme song for the film. Being asked to sing the theme song for a James Bond film is a big deal for an artist. It’s a sign that you’ve made it, that you have arrived. It may also mean a number one hit on billboard charts, just ask Adele, Paul McCarthy, Tina Turner, Duran Duran, etc. Don’t get me wrong they don’t always nab an A-lister, remember Chris Cornell and his awesome song for Casino Royale. But even if they do get big names it doesn’t always result in something good, I’m looking at you Alicia Keys and Jack White. So who’s the lucky artist this time around? It’s none other than “male Adele” himself Sam Smith. The song will be called “Writings on the Wall” and will be released on September 25th about a month before the film debuts in theaters (in the U.K. on Oct. 26 and Nov. 6 in the U.S). Smith will be in good company, as I mentioned before Adele scored a hit with the single Skyfall from 2012’s Skyfall. It looked like singer Ellie Goulding was gunning for the gig sending out cryptic tweets hinting that she would be the next to contribute a song for Bond. Unfortunately for her producers were just way into Smith, so much so they gave him an actually silver Spectre ring. I feel it was a safe, logical choice, not to brag but I totally called this shit. A soulful, smooth, elegant voice just seems required to sing the theme for a Daniel Craig James Bond film. Sam Smith easily fits the bill and I can’t wait to hear the final product.
