‘Snowpiercer’ Is Becoming A TV Series

bhmuzslx5oxkrhiasdhx

If you thought you saw the last of Bong Joon Ho’s  first English-language production ‘Snowpiercer’ starring Chris Evans, Tilda Swinton, Octavia Spencer, and John Hurt. The film is about is set in a post-apocalyptic ice age that forces humanity’s last survivors aboard a globe-spanning super train that can’t stop. On man will risk everything to lead a revolt for control of the engine and the future of the world. The premise is a bit familiar but in the best way possible. The film might be most known for being one of the first movies to debut on both VOD and in theaters. That garnered some attention to the a film that might have otherwise been lost in the shuffle. ‘Snowpiercer’ received good reviews from both critics and audiences, so it’s no surprise that the people over at Tomorrow Studios have optioned the rights to the 2013 sci-fi thriller for a TV series. Josh Friedman (Sarah Connor Chronicles, War of the Worlds) is attached to pen the script, if you don’t know who he is he’s the guy who’s credits include NBC’s pirate drama Crossbones, the comic book adaptation Locke & Key (which was a pilot at Fox that didn’t get picked up) and the upcoming Wizard of Oz-themed miniseries Emerald City. I think fans will feel good about how enthusiastic he feels about the gig, he went on to say:

“I couldn’t be more excited for the opportunity, Marty and Becky are the perfect partners to help me bring this world to TV. I’m a huge fan of director Bong’s films, especially Snowpiercer. It’s great the way the best sci-fi is great — thoughtful, political, funny, scary and sly. And it’s on a train. A big f—ing train. What more could you want?”

This is one show I must admit I don’t know how it can be done. The movie is a basically a bottle film, but the world of ‘Snowpiercer’ is one with many questions and have no doubt that flashbacks to a world before will likely be the route that’s taken, either way I’ll be watching.
