Watch Teaser Trailer For Steven Spielberg’s ‘The BFG’

Spielberg. Disney. Summer. Those three ingredients are a recipe for a helluva lot of money and maybe a childhood memory or two. I was pleasantly surprised to see that Disney released the teaser trailer for ‘The BFG’ today. I have to be completely honest right now I had no idea Steven Spielberg was even doing a big screen adaptation of ‘The BFG’ the whole thing sort of caught me off guard. The fact that Spielberg is teaming with Disney was also something that sparked my interest. I mentioned a lot of possible factors that might make this film one of the biggest of the summer, but I actually missed one. The film is based on Roald Dahl’s beloved children’s book which goes by the same name. If you’re familiar with Dahl’s adaptations then you know that most of them end up being pretty successful. The one most of you may remember would ‘Charlie And The Chocolate Factory’ (including the ‘Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory), ‘The Fantastic Mr. Fox’, ‘James And The Giant Peach’, and ‘The Witches’ just to name a few. So if ‘The BFG’ follows in the path of those films than I’m sure it’s destined for greatness. If you’re unfamiliar with the story heres a synopsis for the book:
The BFG is no ordinary bone-crunching giant. He is far too nice and jumbly. It’s lucky for Sophie that he is. Had she been carried off in the middle of the night by the Bloodbottler, or any of the other giants—rather than the BFG—she would have soon become breakfast. When Sophie hears that the giants are flush-bunking off to England to swollomp a few nice little chiddlers, she decides she must stop them once and for all. And the BFG is going to help her!
